Museum Bahari participates in Batavia Art Festival 2008

Next to the exposition "Hidden treasures in the Museums of Jakarta" in June will be the Batavia Art Festival. The Museum Bahari will be part of this annual event, closely cooperating with the Historical Museum (also Museum Sejarah).

The Batavia Art Festival is a one day happening which has been organized for the 5th time in succession and will normally be held twice a year. Amongst the maritime museum will be other museums, the Kota Tua Association (old town), hotels and tour/travel agents. There will be a stage for music and art performances while old bicycles parade during this day. The Art Festival will be on June 22 on Fatahilla Square in the old town centre of Jakarta. During this event the maritime museum will show the art of making ship models.

The Batavia Art Festival will officially be opened by the Governor of Jakarta and admission is free. Due to the location of the Festival your visit is excellent to combine with a worthwhile visit to one of the museums adjacent to the historical Fatahilla Square.

This event fits in with the mission of the museum management to present the Museum Bahari in Jakarta as a key institution for preservation of the maritime culture in Indonesia and to promote the improvement of surrounding communities in regards to education, economy, culture and tourism.
